Hardeman Egg Group Acquires Bumble Hole Foods Ltd
Creating a New Force in the UK Egg Industry
The Hardeman Egg Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of Bumble Hole Foods Ltd, uniting two highly respected names to form a fully integrated leader in the UK egg products market.
This strategic move represents a major milestone in the Group’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the UK egg supply chain—enhancing stability, driving innovation, and building long-term resilience across the sector.
Founded in 1961, Bumble Hole Foods has evolved into one of the UK’s foremost egg processing businesses. From its cutting-edge facility in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, the company offers a broad portfolio of egg products, including liquid whole egg, boiled eggs, egg mayonnaise, scrambled egg, and separated whites and yolks—available in packaging ranging from 1-kilo long-life cartons to bulk industrial containers.
Andrew Hewston, outgoing owner of Bumble Hole Foods, commented:
“After much reflection, we’ve made the difficult decision to sell Bumble Hole Foods. This business has been an integral part of our family’s life for many years, and what started as a vision has grown into a reality thanks to the dedication of our team and the loyalty of our customers and suppliers.
As the industry shifts—particularly with the move towards cage-free production, where Hardeman leads—we’re confident this is the right step to secure a sustainable and successful future for the business.
Sharon and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing staff, customers, and partners for their unwavering support. We are confident that the Hardeman Egg Group will continue to honour and grow the legacy we’ve built.”
Bumble Hole Foods will continue operations as usual. Simon Bennett will remain as Managing Director to ensure leadership continuity, while Andrew Hewston and Sharon Jones will step down from their roles.

With their own poultry farms, they keep control over production and invest in improvements. Their egg processing companies collectively have over 200 years of experience and serve a wide range of customers in Europe and beyond from fresh eggs for retail, egg powders, coloured eggs, peeled eggs and liquid egg.
Ton Gielen, CEO of The Hardeman Egg Group, added:
“By combining our expertise, resources, and commitment to excellence, we are better positioned to deliver value, drive innovation, and serve our customers more effectively. Each business brings unique strengths, and together we are more agile, resilient, and ready to lead in a rapidly evolving market. With increasing pressure on the UK egg industry to transition to cage-free systems and strengthen domestic food resilience, this acquisition comes at a pivotal time for ensuring long-term supply chain security and sustainability”.
The combined expertise and infrastructure of both businesses will allow the Group to respond with greater agility to market challenges and better support the UK food sector with a reliable, high-quality supply of egg products—an essential capability in today’s complex and volatile supply environment.
