Bumble Hole Foods cracks the Organic Approval again for 2017
Bumble Hole Foods can yet again boast the fact it has retained the Organic Approval.
Bumble Hole Foods, one of the UK leading egg processors, we're pleased announce another very successful audit this week by retaining organic approval by the Soil Association with no non conformities.
Eggs play a massive part of the UK's diet. Over 12 billion eggs are eaten per year in fact! - that's a staggering 34.5 million per day! Eggcellent stuff. This is brilliant news for Egg manufacturers and also us here at Bumble Hole Foods. Organic sales make up approximately 3% of the retail egg market within the UK. This is clearly important news for us at Bumble Hole Foods as we have seen extensive growth as the consumer is moving away from traditional colony egg.
To break-down the figures; only 2% of these are organic, whereas up to 47% of them come from free-range hens, 48% are produced by caged birds and the remaining eggs come hens reared in barns.

What is the Soil Association Approval?
The Soil Association recommends flock sizes of no more than 500 birds at any given time; thus making Chickens more chirpy and therefore in theory produce more efficiently.
Andrew Hewston, Commercial Director commented. “To achieve full accreditation with no non-conformities is a fantastic result. We have invested significant capital in ensuring Bumble Hole Foods have one of the most modern egg processing factories in Europe. Coupled with that, the whole team have worked very hard to guarantee standards are continually met, ensuring product quality is always exceptional.”
