Bumble Hole Foods is probably the most respected egg processing company in the UK. From our humble beginnings, we now operate from the most modern, state of the art egg processing food factory in the UK, with full BRC grade AA, Soil Association and Marks and Spencer A list approval.
Bumble Hole started off as egg producers in 1961 when David Hewston’s late father, William retired from the fire service and together they started a small-holding. The Hewston family’s quality and service ethos – which is still the cornerstone to the business now, projected the growth from that small-holding to a large egg producer supplier many of the regional supermarkets in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
In the 1980’s Bumble Hole’s bakery customers perceived the quality and service to be unrivalled in the industry and as such Bumble Hole developed a line of pasteurised egg products. As the customers grew with Bumble Hole, we saw an opportunity to supply hard boiled eggs and a high quality egg mayonnaise. With the help of a DEFRA grant, we commenced boiled egg and egg mayonnaise production in the mid 1990’s.
Bumble Hole grew rapidly during the next decade, and now suppliers most of the key quality food manufacturers with egg and egg product. Although we have experienced steady growth, the Hewston family values remain key, with quality, service, and complete understanding of customers’ requirements the key to our success.
From 2010, Bumble Hole invested heavily in the site, and now operate from a state of the art food processing factory, conveniently located in the centre of the UK. Our egg breaking capacity allows us to break 250,000 eggs per hour, producing whole egg, whites and yolks, as well as blended egg product. We are extremely customer focused and can produce in a variety of pack sizes – from bag in box to pallecons. We also have the capability to produce egg into road tankers. We are also manufacture quality hard boiled eggs and egg mayonnaise, whereby our boiling and peeling facility can produce in excess of 2.5 million hard boiled eggs per week.
We do feel we produce the best-performing egg products in the UK. Coupled with the family values of being customer led, we very much focus on service and quality.
